The Road of Fathers has all the hallmarks of classic fantasy, and fans of such should take notice. It has a complex plot, broad in scope, but Barron compels the reader with young Tyrian Fellhawk and his desire to complete a dangerous mission. Something all-powerful needs to be delivered to a king and Fellhawk risks everything to do it. Through Tyrian's journey the reader is encouraged to consider larger themes of power, greed, religion, destiny, and societal structures. A concept called a "God-twin" is particularly fascinating. Barron has created a conflicted world and a mosaic of characters that are ripe for the coming books in the series. Stay tuned.
